- The applicant needs to fill out two main forms online: one to be completed by the applicant and the other by the applicant’s employer.
- After completing the forms, attach scanned copies of the prepared documents and submit them to ICA for review. ICA will notify you or your agent of the result by mail.
- If your application is approved, you will need to book an appointment with ICA and provide documents: proof that you are still employed by the company you stated, medical examination results for you and your family, and your Employment Pass (EP) and Dependant’s Passes (DP).
If you meet the following conditions, you can submit your PR application online with a valid Singpass account:
- A Singapore Citizen applying for PR for their spouse or unmarried child under 21 years of age
- A Singapore Citizen applying for PR for their aged parents
- An Employment Pass or S Pass holder applying for PR for themselves
- If you are currently studying in Singapore, you can apply for PR using your Foreign Identification Number (FIN) and a valid immigration pass

You can withdraw your PR application and resubmit a new application with your dependents via the ICA e-Service (ICA e-Service). However, the processing fee for the submitted application is non-refundable.
How do I update my employment or salary changes after submitting my Singapore PR application?
Singpass users should log in to the e-Service via MyICA and select “Update Particulars” on your personal page to provide the latest changes.

Can my child apply for PR while also applying for a Student Pass?
Yes. The two are reviewed independently. The PR application will not be affected by the Student Pass application.
My child is still studying. When should I submit their PR application?
A foreign student studying in Singapore on a valid pass may submit a Singapore PR application online under the Foreign Student Scheme (FSS) if they have resided in Singapore for more than two years at the point of application, and have passed at least one national exam or are in the Integrated Programme (IP). If my child attends an international school, how should I fill in their education level on the PR application form?
You should select the equivalent qualification standard (e.g., Grades 1-6 in an international school are equivalent to Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)/Primary Level Examination Certificate for primary education; kindergarten and infant/childcare are equivalent to pre-school education).
Why was my Permanent Resident (PR) application rejected?
The Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) does not provide reasons for rejecting a PR application. However, we can investigate the reasons for a PR application’s rejection based on many factors, including the applicant’s specific personal circumstances and factors influencing the government’s review.
The Singapore government reviews the existing number of PRs in the total population and calculates the annual PR quota. The quota is confidential and is adjusted periodically. Therefore, it is crucial to prepare a detailed and authentic personal profile for assessment when submitting your application.

Does Singapore Permanent Resident status expire?

The REP allows you to retain your Singapore PR status while outside Singapore. If you leave Singapore or remain overseas without a valid REP, you will lose your Singapore PR status. You must log in to the ICA e-Service using Singpass to renew your REP.
Can I return to Singapore with the PR IPA letter?
Possession of a PR In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Entry into Singapore is subject to prevailing entry requirements and the assessment of ICA officers at the checkpoint. You can refer to the ICA website for more information on entry requirements.
Do I have to provide a health declaration for my child as part of the PR process?
All successful applicants, including children, must declare their health status to the CPF Board as part of completing the PR formalities. Please log in to the ICA e-Service for more information. What if I cannot complete the PR formalities by the date required in the IPA letter?
The main applicant or sponsor may apply for an extension to complete your formalities via the ICA e-Service. On your personal page, you can click “View Details”, then “Proceed to Complete Formalities”. Click “Request for Extension” to submit your extension request. Please note that extension requests are subject to ICA’s approval.
What if my PR application is approved, but my employer refuses to provide the EP152 form?
If your employer refuses to sign the EP152 form, ICA can also accept other forms of documentary evidence to verify your employment status:
- A valid work pass (S Pass/Employment Pass);
- Payslips for the last 6 months;
- An employment letter or Annex A (i.e., Employer Information), dated within 2 weeks of your appointment date with ICA.

Once your PR application is approved, ICA will issue you an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter, which outlines the relevant administrative details and conditions.
