Is there an interview for the Singapore PR application?
If more information/documents/actions are required, Singapore PR applicants/sponsors will be notified by the ICA.
What if I cannot attend the Singapore PR interview on time?
If you are unable to make it for your appointment, you can reschedule it via the ICA e-Service after the original appointment date has passed.
I have made a PR/REP/CI appointment, can I go directly to the counter?
You may proceed to the self-service kiosks at the Permanent Resident Services Centre (Level 5, ICA Building) and scan the barcode printed on your appointment letter to get a queue ticket. The queue ticket will show your queue number and the designated counter.
When applying for Singapore PR, if I cannot provide an ID card, can I submit my passport?
An identity card refers to a separate document issued by the holder’s country/place of origin to certify their citizenship. If you do not have such a document, you can upload a letter in the “Upload Documents” section to explain your lack of an ID card.
My passport has expired, can I apply for Singapore PR?
One of the requirements for applying for Singapore Permanent Residency is that your passport must be valid for at least six months. If you do not have a valid passport or if its validity is less than six months at the time of application, your PR application will be rejected.
If my spouse or child does not have a passport at the time of application, can I apply for PR for them?
If your spouse or child does not have a valid passport or if its validity is less than six months at the time of application, you will not be able to apply for Singapore Permanent Resident status for them.
Please note that a travel document with at least six months’ validity is mandatory upon submission of the application. Otherwise, the application will be rejected.
If I was married in another country, do I still need to declare it when applying for Singapore PR?
You must declare all marriages (including customary marriages) in your PR application form.
If I cannot provide a marriage certificate, can I apply for PR for my spouse?
You must provide a marriage certificate when applying for PR, as it is a prerequisite for proving your marital relationship with your spouse.
If I do not have a birth certificate, can I apply for PR for my parents?
If you are unable to present your birth certificate when applying for Singapore PR for your parents, you will need to provide other documentary evidence to prove your relationship with them.
Can I omit my parents’ and siblings’ information in my Singapore PR application since they don’t live in Singapore and don’t plan to come?
You must provide your parents’ and siblings’ information in your permanent residency application for ICA’s assessment.
Can I apply for PR if I have been employed for less than 6 months?
Depending on your length of service with the company, you will still need to submit your current payslips via the ICA e-Service.
I don’t have a testimonial or recommendation letter from my previous employer, can I still apply for PR?
Yes, as a recommendation letter from your previous employer is not a prerequisite for a Singapore PR application.
If my work pass has expired, will it affect my PR application?
If you are applying for PR under the Professionals/Technical Personnel and Skilled Workers (PTS) Scheme, which requires a valid Employment Pass or S Pass as a prerequisite, then your PR application will be affected.
Do I need to hire an immigration agent to help me apply for PR or get advice on the documents to submit?
Many applicants can handle their PR application based on their own experience or advice from friends. However, we have seen many applicants submit documents with no relevant value, thereby losing the opportunity for a one-shot success, and are either asked by ICA to submit supplementary materials or are rejected outright. For example, submitting a driver’s license is completely useless.

What does applying for PR through GIP mean?
The Global Investor Programme (GIP) grants Singapore Permanent Resident status to eligible global investors who intend to drive their business and investment growth from Singapore. Applicants need to have a substantial business track record and a successful entrepreneurial background to qualify.
Who can apply for Singapore PR under the Global Investor Programme (GIP)?
Investors interested in starting a business or investing in Singapore can apply for Singapore Permanent Resident status for themselves and their immediate family members under Singapore’s GIP scheme. Eligibility requirements include:
- Investing at least S$10 million in a new business entity or expanding an existing business operation in Singapore; or
- Investing at least S$25 million in a GIP-select fund; or
- Establishing a Singapore-based Single-Family Office with Assets-Under-Management of at least S$200 million, of which no
less than S$50 million must be transferred into and maintained in Singapore, and invested in investments designated by the Economic Development Board of Singapore.
Who can I sponsor when I apply for Singapore PR under the Global Investor Programme (GIP)?
You can sponsor your spouse and unmarried children (under 21 years old) for permanent residency through your GIP application. Please note: male dependents will be liable for National Service.
Parents, parents-in-law, and children over 21 are not eligible for sponsorship through your GIP application. However, they can apply for a 5-year Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP). This pass is renewable and is tied to the validity of your Re-Entry Permit.
I am not familiar with the ICA e-Service. Can I submit my Singapore PR application over the counter?
Since 18 December 2017, all Singapore PR applications must be submitted online through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) system. If you are unable to use the e-Service, you can hire an immigration agency to assist you with preparing the required documents and navigating the entire application process.
How much does it cost to apply for Singapore PR?
If your PR application is successful, you will need to pay the following fees to ICA for each applicant:
- S$100 per person for the Permanent Resident application processing fee;
- S$20 per person for an Entry Permit
- S$50 for an Identity Card
- S$50 for a five-year Re-Entry Permit (REP)
The above fees can be paid via NETS or CashCard.
