The Singapore government has just announced an increase in the top marginal rates for Buyer’s Stamp Duty (BSD) for both residential and non-residential properties to improve the current stamp duty policy.
- For residential properties, the portion of the value in excess of S$1.5 million up to S$3 million will be taxed at 5%; for properties valued over S$3 million, the Buyer’s Stamp Duty will be increased from the current 4% to 6%.
- For non-residential properties, the portion of the value in excess of S$1 million up to S$1.5 million will be taxed at 4%; for properties valued over S$1.5 million, the Buyer’s Stamp Duty will be increased from the current 3% to 5%.
- The revised Buyer’s Stamp Duty (BSD) rates will apply to all properties acquired on or after February 15, 2023
